During a trip to Greenville, Carolina, our founder – Arthur Withers – was having Sunday lunch at his hotel and was served fried chicken, a dish he had never experienced before and fell in love with at first bite.

He eventually managed to get the recipe, and left to continue on his trip around the southern states of America. Two days later he was in Montgomery, Alabama when he was taken on a riverboat cruise. The image of a Mississippi steamboat combined with the taste of fried chicken started an idea in Arthur’s head, one which was soon to be realised as the now world renowned Southern Fried Chicken brand.

In 1983, Southern Fried Chicken moved into the offices they are still in today, complete with its own manufacturing department. Thanks to lots of hard work by both employees and the franchisees, the Southern Fried Chicken Brand is now operating worldwide, from Mongolia to Malta, Kazakhstan to Congo, Tajikistan to Tenerife.

From our humble beginnings in trying to create the perfect fried chicken, our company has transitioned into creating ingredients to produce the signature lemon pepper taste of Southern Fried Chicken and the popular Piri Piri spicy flavour.

Over a number of years, we’ve developed the process of creating the ultimate fried chicken & piri piri chicken with our “3 Steps to Perfection” methods.

Through our partnerships with some of the most reputable international ingredients producers, we have developed and refined our range of coatings, marinades and sauces to ensure we can deliver great-tasting fried or grilled chicken for even the fussiest consumer.
Since the early 80s, when Fast Food Systems started to create and distribute ingredients, our range has grown to include some of the industry favourites like Premier Breading, pre-mixed with just the right amount of lemon pepper. More recently, our Piri Piri marinades, bastes and sauces have become consumer favourites.

Over the years, Fast Food Systems has developed three distinct brands.

Vizu, our equipment manufacturing arm, sells stainless steel catering equipment to the QSR industry.

SFC-Ingredients, distributes our range of top-quality coatings, marinades and sauces to the restaurant industry via our wholesale partners.

Southern Fried Chicken Franchising, the bringing together of our equipment and ingredients arms to form a stand alone restaurant experience that operates globally.
